Elevate Your Home Space

Hi There!

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? It may be a little different this year, with smaller gatherings, and I think with this “Stink, Stank, Stunk” kind of year, some of ya’ll already have your Christmas trees and decor up for good cheer! Right?

Also, I know with many of us working from home, plus just generally wanting our spaces to feel more uniquely ours, you may be looking for some easy inspiration and ideas….

SO, here ya go!

Detailed light elements. You can totally make a light fixture look way more glam with ceiling medallions. Home Depot has a great selection with varied colors and sizes, and you can get them from around $10 on up. Spray paint or primer with paint can work to match the light fixture. You can see here, I got a great color to match the light in my sunroom.

One SMALL thing I did when I redid my sunroom/office, was to use these great beveled glass hanging lanterns in the sunroom, but I wanted them to look even better, so I used urethane medallion from Home Depot, and I found a matching Rustoleum spray paint to paint the medallion so that when you looked at the light fixture, it looked SO awesome. Pic of light below with added medallion: (I can’t even imagine this light without that added detail).

Here’s a sample of what an architectural medallion can look like here:

They come in white, and other colors. SO many choices of style, too!

Another way to elevate your space is with board and batten, wainscoting, or modern wainscoting (below). Heck, there’s even wallpaper that can mimic this stuff! I myself had my kitchen island updated with just strips of wood made to mimic the wainscoting that was in my dining room. It looks like the entire panels of wood were just put up, but my budget - it was less than $300 to have done.

Something else that really can add value to your home and kitchen, is to add crown molding to the cabinetry. It’s amazing how this can truly add so much to some basic cabinets.

And….how about something unexpected?

Spicing up a small nook by adding storage and some cool color along with aesthetically pleasing shelves can bring drama and life (add a mirror behind and, WOWZA!)

Well, I hope you are doing well, and enjoying the weather before it turns too cool. I’m going to be busy getting pies made and figuring out some yummy dishes. We lost my mom this year, and I miss her so much, but I know I can carry on some of her memories by using her recipes.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Live intentionally, love fiercely, and most of all, be safe.

P.S. By the way, I was SO excited to receive my 4th annual Best of Houzz award this year. It is all because of YOU, my delightful customer, that makes this all possible. You are the best! Thank you for letting me serve Y-O-U!

Hugs,
